The Edinburgh Fringe is dazzling. It’s a luxury to be in an audience at the Fringe but spare a thought for the performers who work their hearts out ……and in many cases their voices and bodies. It would be good to see a drop in centre for vocal and physical warm-ups and care for performers at the Fringe.
At the Fringe you will always get the magnificent, the funny and the really silly with deep meaning. The amazing Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre has transferred to London as has Lorna Rose Treen with Skin Pidgeon. There are others who deserve a second showing. The George Lucas parody duo Griffin Newman and Connor Ratcliffe were hilarious in The Baron and The Junk Dealer. You don’t have to know the connection to Star Wars but it is clearly part of the journey of these two actors. Baron Notluwiski Papanoida was a minor character in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ played by none other than George Lucas in a cameo role. And the Junk Dealer bears a resemblance to Watto.
Tucked away in a much smaller theatre the size of a large dressing room, Emily Fury Davy performed ‘Fury’. I was recommended to see this by a local and I’m so glad I did. She is so funny – probably could make any story funny. She also wore a great pair of cowboy boots. Where did she get those boots?
